Men’s grooming, multicultural beauty and natural “butter” type moisturizers are gaining in popularity. This means straight sided, wide mouth jars are more prevalent on retail shelves than ever before. From travel size samples to club store quantities, virtually every product line now has at least one item packaged in jars instead of bottles.
While straight-sided, wide mouth jars may look like the easiest shape to decorate, the fact is that many contract decorators lack the proper equipment to screen print or label jars efficiently. Technigraph maintains a fleet of machines that is perfectly suited to screen print jars ranging in size from less than 1 ounce up to 32 ounces, with up to six colors inline.
And in addition to screen printing, we recently invested in a new rotary labeling system with auto-feed and vision inspection. It is capable of decorating a wide range of jar sizes (from 1 ounce to 32 ounces) and a variety of shapes. This machine allows us to apply labels registered between the seams on the front and back on round bottles and jars, as well as full wrap labels, with registration to the threads on round PET, HDPE, LDPE, PP and PVC containers.
For low-profile jars with small deco areas, consider augmenting the screen printed sidewall copy with a PS label or extended content label on the base of the jar. This gives you additional copy area to include bar codes, ingredients or regulatory requirements in an area of the package that does not detract from your product’s shelf appeal.
